We had a huge day of updates. Here is a roundup of everything that is new, from a brand new way to download mods, to on-site notifications, to friendlier support and voice audition conversations.
Download straight into Mod Organizer 2
The headline feature: you can now send our mods straight into Mod Organizer 2 with a single click.
Every mod file now has a Download with Mod Manager button. Click it and the file drops right into your MO2 downloads list, ready to install. No more saving the archive somewhere, hunting it down, and dragging it into MO2 by hand. It works just like the "Mod Manager Download" button you already know from other big modding sites.
What you need
To use the one click button you need our free MO2 plugin installed. You can grab it here: ColdSun MO2 Plugin. Install it once and every ColdSun download can go straight into MO2 from then on.
A personal token for your account
Visit your account page and you will find a new Mod Manager (MO2) token section. Generate a token, copy it, and paste it into the plugin settings inside MO2. This token lets the plugin do two handy things for you:
- Re-download a mod later without clicking through the site again.
- Check for updates on the ColdSun mods you already have installed.
A few quick notes: the token is shown to you only once when you create it, so copy it right away. You can regenerate it any time, and you can revoke it whenever you like.
A cleaner download menu
Next to the download button you will see a "..." menu. Open it for:
- Manual download for saving the archive in your browser the classic way.
- Copy Wabbajack .meta for modlist authors who need the download snippet.
- A quick link to grab the MO2 plugin if you do not have it yet.
Two smaller download touches
- Real file names. Downloads now arrive with their proper file name instead of a long string of random characters, so your downloads list stays tidy.
- Apps and tools get a simple download. Some of our releases are Windows apps and tools (including the MO2 plugin itself) that cannot be installed through MO2. Those now show a plain Download button instead, so there is no confusion.
On-site notifications
You will now see your profile glowing on your account menu whenever something new is waiting for you. Open your notifications page to see everything in one tidy, grouped list, and use Clear all when you are caught up.
We will let you know when:
- A new mod is released.
- A mod you downloaded gets an update.
- A new project goes live.
- A new blog post is published.
- An admin replies to your support ticket or voice audition.
Support requests are now a conversation
Help requests used to be a one and done message. Now they are a full back and forth thread. You can keep replying, we can reply back, and the whole conversation stays in one place on your account. When a request is resolved it is marked as closed, and it can be reopened if you need to pick it back up. You also get a notification the moment we respond.
Voice auditions are now a conversation too
If you audition for our voiced follower roles, your audition is now a back and forth thread as well. You can send follow up notes and additional takes, and you can replay your own recordings any time from the audition page. We can leave you feedback and mark where your audition stands. Audio plays through a clean custom player built to match the site.
In short
- Send mods straight into MO2 with one click, powered by our free plugin and a personal token.
- Downloads keep their real file names, and apps or tools show a simple download.
- On-site notifications keep you posted on new mods, updates, projects, blog posts, and replies.
- Support requests and voice auditions are now full conversations, not single messages.
Grab the MO2 plugin, set up your token, and enjoy faster installs. As always, thank you for supporting ColdSun Creations.
Have fun!

I am on Linux and have moved away from protoning MO2, I am currently using Amethyst mod manager and it appears to do all the things MO2 does and more. Actively developed as well. Do you think its possible to do some sort of link that allows your mods to download to it Or a plug in for the mod manager itself? i realize this is a huge stretch but figured id ask anyway.
Also, while i am here, any thoughts to making your amazing programs linux compatible? (for the 2 of us that exist i am sure)
Hey thanks for stopping by. I myself use Linux and would toss aside Windows completely if I knew Creation Kit worked on it without issues. That said, to answer your questions above:
I have seen Amethyst and its very nice. I'm absolutely sure something like my CCMO2 plugin could be made for it. I haven't got the time to focus on it right now, but eventually I will swing back to getting Linux working so I can ditch Windows completely.
Yes, the applications are actually done with Tauri which supports different OS like MacOS and Linux. I need a solid workflow using Github Actions and would have to spend a lot more time making sure my applications can handle the differences of using those other OS. I thought about doing it for sure. Due to my many projects, I have to juggle the ideas and use my time wisely. You can bet if I can ditch Windows, Linux versions of my apps are following close behind.
I know its awhile since i was here but Huge thanks for replying! I am grateful for the answers. Thank you for everything you do!
